How Badly Do You Want to Succeed

I came across this video recently and found it truly inspirational. It is one of those videos that makes you stop and think for a minute. About where you are, what you are doing and whether you are still on the path you want to be on. Life has this infinite capacity to consume you with the details, that we begin to lose sight of the bigger picture. You need to be constantly reminded about your end goal and make sure what you are doing today, is leading up to where you want to be.

Glad you enjoyed the video Joel. I have been watching it pretty much everyday since I found it. Giving everyday all that you have is a challenge, however this video puts that into perspective. The defining point of differentiation is really wanting success and kind of wanting it!

Btw, bufferapp user here! Been using it for new the new startup I am working on. Great job with the product.

    Hey Usman-

Great. Great. Great. A person in one of the LinkedIn Groups of which I a am a part shared this link. I consider myself a go-getter, but this makes even me rethink what it REALLY takes to get over the top in business, in sports, in life. I’ll continue to follow you and would love to share any of your entrepreneurial tips on my blog at

    Hey Bobby,

I thought of the very same thing when I watched it for the first time. I think its these subtle mental shifts which really tip the balance in favor of those who achieve true success. Realizing the actual amounts of sacrifices that need to be made to achieve ambitious goals is overwhelming at times. It is in those times that we tend to drop the ball without ever realizing it.

Look forward to reading your blog. Great job on the awesome content as well.

Thanks for the video. The two biggest things that always comes to mind are a) passionate about what you do and b) willing to sacrifice.

It’s very difficult to succeed in something if you don’t love what you do (ie. if you’re just driven by the money/fame). And it’s hard to justify sacrificing your social life, your family, and everything else in the world for something you’re not passionate about. So many successful people decided to start families late or no family at all….to sacrifice something like that really shows how passionate you are about what you do, and increases likelihood of success.

True John. I think what is important is channeling the passion in the correct manner. It is important that our passion can be translated into something that creates value. Which is something that is glossed over when talking about pursuing your passion.
